Biohazard Disposal for Clinical Red-Bag Medical Waste and Needles

Request a Quote for Biohazard Disposal

Environments that arise from biohazardous events such as suicides, murders or homicides, crime or trauma scenes, and accidents produce medical waste.

Our fully-compliant trauma scene decontamination technicians are experienced in remediation and will respond with the sensitivity and capability needed to resolve the issues inherent to environments affected by biohazardous medical waste.

We clean property such as apartment and homes affected by unattended death, drug lab residue and/or include blood from a suicide or crime scene. Our processes will restore use to the environment.  We also offer safe needle disposal (Biohazard Waste Disposal) for doctors, dentists, clinics, and funeral homes.

Once the emergency responders such as the police and coroners leave the scene of the crime or traumatic event, the family or property owner is facing the responsibility of the remediation of the affected environment.

The police and the coroner are not responsible for the biological material left behind.  The task assigned to these first responders is to perform the investigation protocol and remove the deceased should a death be involved.

Case 1

Technicians begin by applying personal protective equipment and then dispersing the primary disinfectant across the affected areas. After the disinfectant is applied to the affected areas, effected items such as bedding and smaller items that can fit in a medical waste box will be contained first. Technicians progress by capturing the blood and medical waste from all areas visible and begin to remove the affected blood saturated carpet.

Once the blood affected carpet and other affected material are contained in medical waste boxes, the remaining carpet and pad is contained and prepared for transfer as conventional waste.  After the carpet, pad, and trim are removed from the flooring, the concrete subfloor is cleaned and disinfected.  When biological waste has been contained in the medical waste boxes, as well as, the conventional waste prepared for transport, the technicians remove...more

Case 2

The primary biological contaminated area consisted of a significant amount of blood and body fluid in the middle of the front bedroom where the 1st responders knocked down a brick wall to recover the body.  After the initial assessment and development of the waste removal plan, all applicable PPE was applied and then the entire area was treated with the primary disinfectant, Shockwave.  During the dwell time needed for the disinfectant application, a review was performed in the collateral area to better define the biological contamination plume and for quality control.  The decomposition area on this project was in a front room.  The 1st responders were forced to knock down a brick wall to recover the deceased due to the condition of the house.

The scope included placing the personal salvageable items in a segregated, concentrated area in a portion of the home in order to remove contents/trash and manipulate contents in preparation for disposal.  These actions were to relieve the home from condemnation from the local health department...more

Case 3

Several teargas canisters were shot into a home. Multiple canisters not only made it into the home but also penetrated the wall cavities and leaving a high concentration of reacted dust in the recess.  Once the entire structure was treated with the teargas neutralizing solution, technicians then began to recover the dust left by the teargas projectiles.

While the technicians were collecting reactive dust, a HEPA filtered Air scrubber was run in other portions of the house to gather dust that was disturbed during cleaning and to restore air-quality.  Multiple layers of teargas neutralizing solution fog were applied to Continue to neutralize dust that was disturbed during cleaning...more

Case 4

The scope included placing the personal salvageable items in a segregated, concentrated area in the garage and portions of the home in order to remove contents/trash and manipulate contents in preparation for disposal.

These actions were to relieve the home from condemnation from the local health department.  Total labor was 387 man-hours (9 techs).

During this process, 44 individual sets of personal protective equipment, over 35 gallons of odor neutralizer and industrial-grade disinfectant were consumed...more

Case 5

Once the top layer of bedding and the pillow top of the mattress were removed, the fluids that settled on the bottom-side of the mattress were exposed.  The clear labeling on the biologically contaminated material is shown.

This material was sealed in 4 mil plastic for safe transport and labeled in accordance with OSHA Standard 1910.1030 Bloodborne Pathogens...more

Case 6

The actual inputs on the project were 8 hours of technician labor, 3 gallons of disinfectant, and 2 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The regulated waste recovered from the project will be disposed of in accordance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act...more

Case 7

To begin the project, the outside of the car must be disinfected after the application of personal protective equipment.  Once the outside of the car has been disinfected with the primary disinfectant, the technician then may open the door and begin applying disinfectant throughout the interior.

The cause of the blood spill was an airbag deployment.  The airbag injured the driver significantly and once the driver was removed from the car the blood spread from the interior down the exterior of the car on the driver side doors...more

Case 8

The actual inputs on the project were 32 hours of technician labor, 8 gallons of tear gas neutralizer, and 4 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The customer requested that the biological fluids on the couch be treated to salvage the item opposed to discarding the piece of furniture.  A disinfectant was applied to affected areas of the couch with the MSDS for the chemical available in accordance with OSHA Standard Hazard Communication 1910.1200.  In order to salvage the carpet, the entire home was treated with multiple layers of teargas neutralizing solution.

After all the carpet and expose surfaces were treated with neutralizer, the entire home was then treated with a chemical extractor. This extractor was able to recover the teargas powder that was neutralized but still rested down in the carpet.  The HVAC system of the home was also treated with teargas neutralizer in order to neutralize any reactive powder in the ventilation system...more

Case 9

The decontamination work consisted of recovering the residual residue produced during the operation of a clandestine methamphetamine (meth) lab, user level, in a one bedroom apartment.  This user level lab was established in the utility room.

The metal shelving has reacted to the corrosive fumes.  Any remaining paraphernalia or used needles were disposed of in biological waste containers through a third-party disposal company and a medical waste disposal manifest is on file for support.

The carpet, couches, appliances, and any remaining material were removed and disposed of...more

Case 10

Two technicians performed decontamination work for a total of 4 work hours to remove the contamination.  During this process, 2 individual sets of personal protective equipment, 5 quarts of disinfectants, and 6 quarts of biological indicator were consumed.  The contamination, blood and bodily fluids, in photos show biological material concentrated on the bed.

The blood affected material extends to portions of the room near the bed from the removal of bedding material and movement of the injured.

Contamination continues to the bathroom and kitchen accumulating in the bathtub and various surfaces...more
